Key Digital 4K/UHD 18G HDMI Signal Distribution Amplifiers Offer Simplistic Alternative to Complex Systems
The cost-effective KD-DA2x4G and KD-DA2x8G boast feature set unmatched by other HDMI
splitters
Mount Vernon, NY – September 29, 2020 – Key Digital, the award-winning manufacturer of professional
AV and control systems, shines a spotlight on the high-performance low-complexity KD-DA2x4G and KD-
DA2x8G 4K/UHD 18 Gbps HDMI signal distribution amplifiers. With two HDMI inputs to four-or-eight
respective HDBaseT outputs, the KD-DA2x4G and KD-DA2x8G offer a reliable solution for quality system
distribution without signal degradation. With these units in the product line, Key Digital puts the focus on a
cost-effective and simplistic solution for standard integration needs, while meeting core requirements for
video, audio, and control.
“What makes KD-DA2x4G and KD-DA2x8G such an effective and successful system is the connectivity
options that accommodate the needs of professional AV systems in an effortless way. By utilizing HDBaseT
with long-range capability, each of the four or eight outputs has the power to extend video signals up to 100
meters with the simplicity of plug and play. The two HDMI source connections allow flexible content
distribution throughout the system, and by de-embedding audio of the selected source KD-DA2x8G and
KD-DA2x8G allow ease of integration into audio systems. Finally, RS-232 and IR pass-thru join app-ready
control for the ability to power the connected displays via signal pass-thru from control systems,” said
Jonathon Ferry, National Training Manger for Key Digital.
Content on the KD-DA2x4G and KD-DA2x8G is supported up to Ultra HD/4K resolution at 4096x2160 or
3840x2160 24/25/30/60hz at 4:4:4 (signals up to 18 Gbps bandwidth). Long-range signal extension of 4K/
UHD signals achieves up to 76 m (250 ft) using CAT5e/CAT6, and 1080p content is extended up to 100 m
(328 ft).
Key Digital sets its self apart from the competition by offering front-end switching selection, enabling the
distribution of identical content to all four-or-eight respective screens. The respective monitors connect via
long-range HDBaseT receive units, which also unlike competitors’ products designed to require the
additional purchase of these necessary receivers, Key Digital includes with the KD-DA2x4G and KD-2x8G
SKU. Integrators love that the included receivers are powered by the KD-DA2x4G and KD-2x8G, as this
negates the search for available power outlets behind each display.
Auto-switching on the units automatically switch to a newly detected source or from a newly disconnected
source via Hot Plug Detection voltage when enabled. Analog and digital audio de-embedding of the selected
source enables the distributed video content to also be fed into connected audio systems. Control pass-thru
enables IR or RS-232 signals from a professional control system to control connected monitors or be
collected from an Rx unit and sent to the main equipment rack location for control of a selected source.
These splitters feature EDID control with a built-in internal library of 15 EDID handshakes in addition to
the ability to copy the EDID data from the display connected to output one. The Full Buffer System
manages TMDS re-clocking / signal re-generation, HDCP source & display authentication, Hot Plug
Management and EDID control handshake. Supported lossless compressed digital audio formats include
Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby Atmos.
KD-DA2x4G and KD-DA2x8G join Key Digital’s suite of app-ready IP enabled products. The KD-App is
downloadable for free from the App Store, and offers installers and users both a simple method for
switching inputs of the video distribution system using any iOS device.
The units also support Key Digital Management Pro Software (KDMS Pro), are Compass Control Pro ready,
and are fully controllable by all IR, RS-232, and TCP/IP supported control systems via open API.
